May Favourites 2017!

Hey!

I spent a lot of May comfort-buying everything from make-up to clothing, and I even treated myself to a trip to York. So here's a couple of the things I enjoyed throughout May.

Makeup. 

Rimmel Match Perfection - (100) Ivory. 

I have been using my L'Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation a lot, which I have grown to love and gives an amazing matte finish. But with the weather finally transitioning into summer I figured it's nice to look a little dewy in when the suns out. Matte is more of a winter-skin look.

I went back to my good old favourite Rimmel Match Perfection which I swear by! It's great coverage and gives a nice dewy look on the skin. Even though I find my skin has been quite oily lately, it's made my skin look healthy. I tried applying with a brush but I found it worked better on my face when I used a beauty blender.

L'Oreal Paris Miss Baby Doll mascara.

I seen everyone and their dog raving on about this mascara. I have so many mascaras including my favourites - Maybelline Lash Sensational and Benefit Roller Lash. So I really didn't need anymore, but I put it down to peer pressure. It looked so good on Sophdoesnails and Sophie Foster and they weren't using a lash curler either - which I always do before applying mascara. 

So I invested! and wow it was worth it.

I don't curl my lashes before applying and it still makes my eyelashes look so voluminous. I dread to imagine how good my lashes will look if I did use my curlers!

It's the little things that I love too - like how when you twist the lid back on it clicks, so you know the lid is definitely on and it won't dry out.

            

 

Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipstick - (56) Boho Nude.

I'm completely obsessed with Rimmel lipsticks to start with. I swear by them and have so many of them. I remember seeing this one in Savers I think? And I picked it up because of the gorgeous rose gold packaging which was different from the rest that were the original black packaging.

I remember swatching it on my hand and falling in love. I'm no good with describing colours but i'd say it's a gorgeous pink/orange nude. It's super creamy and glides on your lips so so well. It's definitely been my go-to lipstick as it goes with everything you wear. And the fact it's in gorgeous packaging meant I had to buy it.

Benefit Gimme Brow - 3.

I bought this when I had my make-up done at Benefit for my birthday. I'd heard people rave about it and I have been looking for something to set my brows for quite a while. I got a smaller tester bottle out of a magazine a few months back and was obsessed with it so whilst I was at Benefit I thought I may as well. I got the newer shade, shade 3, which the beautician said would match my brow colour best. 

I'm completely obsessed with it, the small fibres in it give my brows such volume and keep them in place all day - I think I actually need a new one already.

It's also really good for when you're having one of those days were you can't really be bothered to do a full face of makeup. Using just this on your brows adds colour and makes them look a little thicker for just an everyday look.

It's a little pricey and there's no doubt other brow products that do the same for cheaper - but if you have a higher budget I definitely recommend it.

Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics.

This palette is to die for!

I bought it a few month back when I had vouchers for House of Fraser and I had to have it. I already have the Naked 3 palette and none of the others have shades in that I would regularly use. But when I seen this one I was instantly drawn in. 

Firstly, the packaging is beautiful. It's got really heavy gold casing with lovely detail. 

Inside there's 12 shades, some are nude and some are a little darker. Still they can all be used with several looks. They are so easy to throw on if you're having a minimal makeup day and just fancy a little bit of colour. It also comes with a little brush which is great quality - which you always expect with Urban Decay anyway.

It's not like one of them little crappy sponge brushes you used to get in sets as a young girl.

Also it has a huge mirror with is which is amazing for when you're doing your makeup, it would be great for travelling so I'll definitely be taking it on holiday when I go.

I find myself always using the shades commando, tempted, lockout and faith.

          

 

Random favourites!

TV favourites.

Well I haven't really been watching a lot of TV but I have spent May procrastinating and watching a lot of Netflix.

One thing that I've fallen love with is The Vampire Diaries.

I can't even tell you how many times I've cried my eyes out. I think I'm into series 7 now. Not too sure. But it's mind blowing. Not too sure if i'm team Stefan or Damon because they're both gorgeous. I think I'm loving Stefan a little bit more but then I also love Damon. I'll just take both?

It's so gripping like you can't just sit and watch one episode. I'm so upset that no more will be coming out, that's why I've been trying (and failing) to pace myself when watching. I mean I currently have it on as I write this.

But at least once I finish The Vampire Diaries I can start on The Originals which is a spin off. So I won't have to go cold turkey. But once I've finished I will definitely be re-watching and re-crying alllllll over again.

Another thing I've been watching and loving is Pretty Little Liars.

I've been following this for quite a few years now and I've always been obsessed. I'm so upset that it's also coming to and end.

Why are all the good shows ending!!!

It's so close to the end and I hope that I'm satisfied with the ending - although I don't really know how I want it to end. 

Youtubers

In all honesty I lost a lot of interest with YouTube. There was only a small handful that I would watch and there's so many that I used to watch that I don't anymore.

But i've been changing the type of videos I watch and I've been loving travel vloggers/weekly vloggers and also some new YouTubers who aren't fussing over lighting and editing and crap.

One of my favourites is Brogan Tate. She's an amazing vlogger who I see myself watching the full of her weekly vlogs and her travel vlogs, without getting bored and clicking something that's suggested down the side of the screen. She's very down to earth and real. Her videos are right up my street and I look forward to them every week. 

Another favourite of mine is Anna Miller. She's my friend's cousin so I was excited to see what she filmed, and I fell in love with her videos. She specialises in beauty and does crazy good makeup looks. Her accent is amazing (I'm glad I can understand what she says because I have no idea what her cousin says half the time - sorry Chrissie).

I highly recommend her videos and she's doing amazing for a new budding YouTuber so go and give her some love!

Happenings

Some crazy amazing stuff happened to me this month so I have to include them!

First of all: I finished my second year of university!

I never thought i'd make it - but I did. With my closest friends by my side we finished our final exams of the year and left uni until September without looking back. That's one huge thing to celebrate and now we just have to wait for our results...

Speaking of uni, me and my gorgeous uni girls took a trip to York to celebrate surviving the year together. We had an amazing time and stayed in an awesome apartment that was super cheap! It worked out at about £20 a night each - which we were all surprised at especially considering the quality of the hotel. 

We went to our favourite - Revolution, where we had way too many cocktails and spent a lot of money on food, but it was worth it!

I loved spending time with the girls that keep me going through uni - shout out to you Plamedie, Alex and Rach!

        

 

The last and most favourite thing that happened to me in May was - I got a job in journalism!! 

Not even a placement, like an actual job in a real newspaper. I still cannot believe it. I've been there three weeks and already I've made front page and been given my own column called Amie's World. 

People work for years to get in this position and I've been privileged enough to have it happen to me.

For this I'm so very thankful and excited for the future. Who I work with are so friendly and I feel so comfortable with them all, i'm happy to be part of their team.

July Favourites! 2016

Wow it's August already can we just take a minute to wonder where this year has ran off to.

I haven't really got any new beauty favourites as I haven't had the money to go out and buy new pieces. But I have a few random things that I've liked during this month and I thought I may as well share them with you.

Amie Petal Perfect Micellar Water.

I got sent this product off Amie and have just completed a review on their products which I will link here!

I've loved using this product to take off my makeup and with using on mornings and evenings to tone my skin it's made my skin so soft and I haven't had any blemishes appear when its my 'time of the month'.

It's a great product and in a large bottle which makes me happy that it's going to last me a long time.

I recommend if anyone is looking for a new micellar water that is good for their skin and made from all natural ingredients then go and check it out.
I used it to remove the swatch of eye shadow I done for the item below and it removes everything perfectly.

Seventeen Eye-shadow Easy On The Eye Palette in Birthday Suit.

I know this palette has been mentioned quite a lot in my blog and videos on my channel - but I've been doing a new combination of shades in there to create a rose gold which is my new gorgeous obsession.

I've been using the burnt copper(10) which is a metallic cream. I put this on the base of my eye and then I use the pink shimmer shadow called toasted almond(7) and pat this over the top of the cream and blend it in. It leaves a gorgeous rose gold shade. 

I'll show you on my eye what it looks like...

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.

Because I went on holiday at the beginning of this month and tanned quite nicely, I haven't needed to use foundation (which has saved my skin so much!)

But I have been using my concealer under my eyes just to lighten up underneath them and it's made my face look a lot better.

It's had millions of amazing reviews but this product really is amazing. I use the fair(1) as it helps to lighten up well. I don't actually use this one to conceal any imperfections.

Clay face mask with activated charcoal. 
I got the one I use from Bodycare for under £5 and I've been enjoying using it. Although I wish it got rid of black/white heads as I have a collection on my chin and the sides of my nose :(
But when I use it, it leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed. It washes away any impurities and cleanses your skin.
Is it odd that I love the smell? Yes maybe it is.

If someone could recommend a product that gets rid of black/white heads - please let me know!

Now for the random favourites!

The old classic movie - Three Men and a Little Lady.
Well I watched the first one 'three men and a baby' which is a classic. But I have the second film 'Three men and a little lady' on DVD so I put it on the other night and all I've wanted to do since is keep re-watching.
If you haven't seen it then you really need to - it's such a cosy film. Really funny and also has a few sad bits it (but nothing too major, you won't need any tissues I don't think).
I don't really know what to say about it without giving it away but it's based on a little girl who is brought up by 3 men. One is her biological dad and the other 2 are the other men who have helped bring her up. The mother left the baby (Mary) on the dads doorstep in the first movie and it's just a carry on. But watch it! I'm not giving it away.

A new read! - Beautiful Broken Things.

I can't really say too much as everything to do with my opinion are over on that post.
But it's a really lovely book to read. It keeps you gripped. I read it on my holiday in a matter of a couple of days. 
I got it from WHSmith with the Zoella Book Club so it has a different cover to the original book. 

Lastly...
A thing I'll have to mention is my trip to Turkey. 
I don't really want to do a large post on the trip as I think it will bore you.
But basically the place was gorgeous and the weather was unreal!
I'll insert some pretty pictures here!

Also I'm going to Benidorm on the 20th of August which I'm considering vlogging! But even if I don't I'll take lots of lovely photos and make sure I dedicate a blog specifically to it.

AMIE Skincare review!

This post is an exciting one for me.

When I seen that there was a skincare brand called 'Amie' I was buzzing when they emailed me and said they'd like to send me some products "From Amie to Amie" How crazy?!

So I thought i'd review them for you.

They kindly sent me 2 cleansers.

Petal Perfect Gently Cleansing Micellar Water.

Lets start with the smell. It smells gorgeous! It includes rose petal and softening argon oil - but I think it smells like baby wipes. I honestly love the smell of Johnsons baby wipes so.

The idea that it's made from natural products and no chemicals means that all of their products are so good for your skin - and all types of skin for that matter.
It's free from:

• Parabens,
• Sulphates,
• Mineral oils,
• Petrochemicals
• Animal extracts.

Meaning it's also suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

I use this every morning once i've washed my face and also before I put my makeup on as it's a good cleanser and toner. But I also use it to take my makeup off on a night as it's successful at remover my eye make-up. This is normally rare considering I use water proof mascara.

It makes my skin feel so soft!

I use a cotton pad, put a little on and wipe it all over my face. Even on a morning when I've already washed my face you can see any extra it's removed and its quite gross - but relieving to see that this micellar water removes any crap.

New Leaf Deep Pore Exfoliating Polish.

This product is great! You get such a large amount it's going to last so long and amazing for the price. 

Again with the natural products means that when i'm using the product I know i'm not damaging my face with chemicals. 

It smells amazing! Its mango and orange blossom - but I can predominantly smell the mango and it's so refreshing. It smells like them tiny pot apricot yoghurts you used to eat when you were little.

It says to wash over your wet face and massage in - which I do! You're left feeling so clean and smelling fabulous.

To be honest i've also been using it on my hands as the smell is so strong. I put a tiny bit on my palm and rub it in until all of the little beads disappear. If there's any left I wipe them off on a towel and my hands smell good enough to eat as well as being so soft.

I love love love Amie products ( and no i'm not bias because of the name)

With "Amie" meaning "friend" in French. Amie skincare claims that its your skins best friend.
They aren't wrong!

I've spent my morning recording a 'everyday makeup look' for my channel which i'm starting on again.

So I thought I'd like the latest upload with this video is of how much my face is worth.

Basically you never realise how much you actually spend on makeup to wear it for a few hours a day... I added mine up and I had no idea.

May Faves 2016!

I hope you're all good!

Well May is over, we're in the beginning of June now. So I thought I'd do a May favourites.

I haven't really bought anything new this month, I'm skint and saving my money for my holiday to Turkey which is a month away! (1st July)

Rimmel London Salon Pro nail varnish in 312 Ultra Voilet.
This month I decided to start painting my nails more since it is coming up to summer and the sun is trying to come out. I thought with a brighter nail varnish it might influence the sun to come out more.
Purple is my favourite colour so when I tried this I was in love! My nails aren't long - I really can't grow them, as soon as I get a little stressed and I bite them off. So I've been using some fake nails and used the polish over the fake nails and it looks lovely. 
I think the colour is really pretty and it looks like the colour in the pot. There's nothing worse than buying a nail colour but when you put it on your nails it's a completely different shade. 

The nails I have been using are the HEADTOTOE French Manicure Nail Set. 
(I binned the box- oops! But still they were nice haha & there's a picture above with me wearing them!)
These are also one of my favourites of this month. 
You get 24 nails in the back and also the adhesive.
I went into Claire's Accessories and they have some really pretty fake nails but they were between £6-£8 and I cannot afford that.
I went into Home Bargains for a mooch with my Mam and they had these nail sets and they were only 79p! To also get the glue in these packs is brilliant.
Honestly I wasn't expecting much from these considering the price - but they're actually really good. I've had a pair on for nearly a week now and only a couple of them have came off. But that was when I was in the bath so the hot water might have melted the glue. 
They look really natural on my nails and fit my hands perfectly, which can be quite difficult because I have quite small hands and small fingernails. 
So yeah i've very happy and for less than £1 you can't really complain.

Someday perfume by Justin Bieber.

I know this is a few years old now but the smell will always be gorgeous.
I always seem to wear it a lot more in the summer as it is a sweet and florally smell. It holds so many memories around this time of year and whenever I wear it I just feel a lot fresher.
The packaging is a bonus also because it's so beautiful and the amount of times I've dropped the bottle and it hasn't broken!
So yeah I've been loving this and will be wearing it on my holidays.

Seventeen Easy On The Eye Palette.
This palette has been my saviour. With the weather getting warmer I'm really into wearing golds and pinks.
So this palette is brilliant for just that. It's really pigmented eye shadows for such a cheap price. They are brilliant quality and do stay on all day.
I will say the primer that comes with it is quite poor quality and actually makes my eye-shadow off quicker than if I don't use the primer.
My favourites are the glitter colours and the mattes. The metallic creams aren't as good but are still okay. I've loved this all month and will continue to wear it all summer.

New Look Pure Colour Baked Eyeshadow in 91/Bronze.
This eye shadow is so lovely! It matches up with the shade Radiant Gold in the Seventeen Easy On The Eye pallete.
It's got a lovely gold pigment, you don't need a lot on your brush when you apply it. 
It was only a couple of pound and there was a few shades so it was a brilliant buy and I love wearing it.

Scarlett Moffatt - Scarlett Says

I got this book in April and have been reading it throughout May. It's hilarious!
I love Scarlett on Gogglebox so I was over the moon when she brought her book out. It is definitely what I expected, it's completely her attitude to certain topics and it's a brilliant read. It's easy to read so when you're laid in bed or have some spare time during the day it's a good book to just pick up and read a few pages.
I know a lot of people who get some spotlight on TV or online think that bringing a book out is a great way of making money - but this one actually works, you can see she has put a lot of thought into it and hasn't just thrown it together for some more money.
Well done Scarlett!

My Skincare Routine - May 2016

how are you all?

Today I'm going through my skincare routine!

To be honest with you I don't have the best skincare routine. I use the basics, I don't use anything expensive because I don't actually know what to use for my skin. So if you have a clue what I should use or if you can recommend anything - let me know in the comments.

My skin type varies all of the time. Sometimes it is dry so when I put my foundation on it goes all patchy, but sometimes it's oily and I get patches of oil down the T-Zone and my chin. So I don't really know what I should use to change this?

I don't go out of my way to buy skin products to put on before bed and in the morning - I use the basics.

But to take my make up off I use the Garnier Pure Active Micellar Cleansing Water. 
I have to large 400ml bottle which states that it gives you 200 uses. I will admit it has lasted me so long. I have 1/4 of the bottle left and i've had it for around a year now? 
It's really good for taking off your make-up, it's for combination to oily skin - which is probably best for mine. And also for sensitive skin so it doesn't sting your face and leave you all blotchy.
Also if you don't want to invest in the big bottle which is £3 (even though it lasts such a long time), maybe you're going on holiday or travelling, places like Boots and Asda doing the miniature bottle which is maybe 100ml? And they're something small like £1 each. 







I use a different product for taking off my eye make-up. I use the Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-Up Remover. It comes in a 125ml bottle and is for all skin types. When you see the product in the shop its two different colours because the liquids inside sets and layers, so that it goes a dark blue and clear - so make sure you shake it.This is amazing for taking off make-up. It's the only thing I know to properly take off my waterproof mascara completely. My cousin who is a beautician suggested it to me (hey Niamh!) It was cheap considering the quality of it and it lasts quite a while. I've had it a few months and I'm just about half way through the bottle.
All I'll say is that once you put it on a cotton pad and take off your make-up, you may want to use another pad to wipe off any access product as it does tend to leave some kind of oil around your eyes and makes them quite greasy. 
But for the amazing job that it does - that doesn't bother me at all.
My Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish doesn't even remove eye make up that well compared to this product!



To use the cleansing water and eye-makeup remover, I use the Lacura Body and Face Cotton Wool Pads. They come in a 2 pack and have 100 in each so they are going to last me a long time hopefully. I prefer these cotton pads over any others (strange how i'm particular about them), but these ones are thick and a lot more padded. Other pads I use fall apart as I use them but the Lacura ones have been pressed around the edges so that the stuff on the inside doesn't move about a lot when you use them. 
They're also really soft on your skin and aren't itchy. I think I got them from Aldi! For less than a pound! But yeah I just really like them, they're the perfect size too.

If I feel like really pampering myself I will use my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish which I got for Christmas. I still have a little bit left in the bottle so I'm trying to use it in small portions so that it doesn't all go.
It smells amazing and makes your skin feeling so fresh after you use it. I do want to try the new scents that are available - but cannot afford them just yet. 
They are great for all types of skin as Liz Earle is all natural ingredients so nothing will damage the skin. 
I mainly use this if I have the time, as although it doesn't take too long to do - it's still more effort than using a face wipe or my Micellar Water.

For a while I've been looking for a face mask that will get rid of any black heads and just get my skin looking better as it looks very worn out. I was thinking of going to Lush and getting a mask from there but I bought a magazine which had a Balance Me Treatments - Radiance Face Mask in. The real thing is £18 online but I received a free 30ml bottle. 
I do really love it! I couldn't afford the bigger bottle but it tried the tester and it made my skin so refreshed and soft. It didn't irritate my face at all and it really made my face feel more hydrated. I covered my face for 5 minutes like the bottle said. I did feel it working on my skin too whilst it was on my face - which I loved because I like to know it's actually doing something.
When you put some on your hand it has little orange balls in which massage into your skin. It smells so fruity (probably because it has fruit extracts)
I'd love to try some more of their stuff but I cannot afford it just yet! But yeah I definitely rate them.

Something I occasionally use before bed, usually after I've taken my make-up off and am ready to relax, I use my Nivea Rich Generating Night Cream. It's a very thick cream and it has literally lasted me a year and I'm not even half way through. I don't use it every night, probably like once a week. It's quite greasy but it definitely moisturises your skin for the next day. 












So there you go! There's my skincare routine. There isn't really a routine but it's what I use on my face.
